At times I almost gave up on this book when the writing felt heavy and sluggish. However, I liked the ending and I can't deny the author's originality

Very visceral descriptions so if you're easily shocked, this is not the book for you. Good plot, lots of twists, definitely a good read

Nothing much sets this book apart from thousands of others. Okay for a quick, predictable, and forgettable read

I like this author's writing style and although the plot is not amazing, the main character is very interesting and definitely worth following

It was okay but not nearly as good as the earlier work by the author. Reynolds is so rich she can just pick up the phone to start a huge investigation costing thousands of dollars with several people doing her bidding and this makes it difficult to take her seriously as a "detective" (amateur or not)It was okay but not nearly as good as the earlier work by the author. Fun book and it's one of DeMille's shortest, which works to its advantage in this case. Good plot, a bit of dilly dallying with the whole Irish background but overall an okay read

Okay book, good enough to get you to the end but nothing spectacular

The book is very fast-paced and full of action. It's a bit difficult to keep up with all the characters unless you have read the previous book that sets up the plot for this one. I felt the description of the landscape was just too much at the beginning and I definitely did not like the endingThe book is very fast-paced and full of action. Brennan suffers from lack of originality, repetitive dialogue, and characters that seem stuck in the same behaviours book after book after book

Not bad at all. It's not "horror" per se but definitely a good scary book. Despite some very cheesy moments, the book is entertaining and fun

Interesting, fun, fast-paced, and despite some repetition (we get it, bones can tell a lot about a dead person) it is a very enjoyable read. It was definitely much better than anything that Cornwell has put out in years

This was okay but nothing more. Brown seems to be stuck in the "one trick pony" trap and continues to write the same books as his bestseller The DaVinci Code.

This one showed up in my recommendations and I am glad I gave it a chance. Very unexpected and pleasant surprise. Entertaining, fast-paced, a good thriller all around

This book was definitely entertaining but despite its length, I couldn't help feeling like I was reading the "light" version of a spy novel, the flavour was off and there was not enough substance. The characters are definitely likeable so maybe the next book will be betterThis book was definitely entertaining but despite its length, I couldn't help feeling like I was reading the "light" version of a spy novel, the flavour was off and there was not enough substance. It was okay but I wouldn't call this a "horror" book. I thought it was more of a gory thriller

Uninspired, with a plot that requires the reader to put credibility aside, what carries the book is the action

I hope Grisham writes other books with Sebastian Rudd as the main character. I also hope that they will actually have a better plot than this one

Very good book but like all the other "OMG, I can't believe that!" Blockbusters, it is not nearly as good the second or third time. I have to admit, the author created a character that I couldn't help but hate and admire at the same time. This came up in my recommendations and I decided to give it a try since I like scary movies and books. Unfortunately, aside from enjoying the familiarity of a Canadian setting, I didn't find anything frightening in the plot at all

Entertaining, fast-paced, and despite some really big leaps in logic and out-of-the-hat solutions, it was a good read.

I like the Mitch Rapp character but despite the constant action in the book, the plot was very thin and the writing was not the best

DeMille's follow up to The Gold Coast is good, just not memorable. The writing flows well and the characters are interesting but the subject matter just doesn't didn't have that much appeal for me

It may not be fair but this book would probably get 4 stars if it had been written by a less-accomplished author. As a work of Grisham, though, it's just okay
