I have always greatly admired the actor Anthony Hopkins, who thanks to his work in "Silence of the Lambs" will likely always be identified with the Hannibal Lecter character. That said, I must also say the fine Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen is outstanding in this role, and has really managed to make it his own. My only complaint is that Mikkelsen's accent is so strong I don't always understand every word of his dialogue. Yet even that doesn't matter, so commanding and expressive is his presence. I spent almost the entire Memorial Day weekend binge-watching this series.
Highly recommended. Even if, like me, you do not like gore-fest television.
(Note to CPL: It may be time to replace these DVD sets; even when I cleaned them first most of the discs tended to freeze and skip at the most inopportune moments of the drama.)
