Chamber of Secrets sees Harry and Co. enter their second year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. We get introduced to new characters like Dobby the house-elf and new mechanics of the wizarding world, like flying cars and irritable, violent trees. Harry faces challenges of identity and develops his friendships and wizarding skills under the expert tutelage of Professors McGonagall and Flitwick, notwithstanding his conflicts with Professors Snape and Lockhart, who is the Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher this year. This is the ultimate comfort novel; the book’s message is unwaveringly heartwarming, and I recommend it to anyone who needs some nostalgia or just some good cheering up.
