A grandfather plays a game with his granddaughter everyday after school. Once the granddaughter gets the hang of the game she plays a trick on her grandfather. This story is sweet and the illustrations will have you studying each picture to see what you can find hidden on each page. Where is the pet cat? Where are the objects the grandfather hides? I highly recommend this book.

As expected, Pinkney's illustrations got to the heart of the characters' humanity and were the highlight of the book for me. The repetitive text would make this good for preschoolers or kindergarteners. Reading it with children this age could be an interactive experience because they will likely want to help Sophie locate Grandpa's missing possessions.
