If you have ever had any starry-eyed dreams of running away and joining a circus (and taking part in all of its apparent glamour and all of its glitz) - This 6-hour documentary should certainly convince you to the contrary.

'Cause - Let's face it, folks - Life under the big top (as this over-long presentation clearly demonstrates) is a literal soap opera of bad tempers, aggressive rivalry, and petty personal dramas (day in and day out) amongst one's fellow performers.

Yes. "Circus" did contain some interesting moments. But, unfortunately, this aspect of circus-life was grossly overshadowed by its decidedly seedy and unpleasant side that left me wondering why the hell this frickin' documentary was ever made at all.

Not your average reality show. Great in depth look at a modern circus.

Really good. A documentary the way it's meant to be done. PBS really knows their stuff. There are some darker elements here about the real lives of the performers, so maybe it's not entirely appropriate for kids. It really is about the performers. Great entertainment.
