When her bookshop closes its doors, Laura agrees to help organize a literary festival. Her initial excitement is followed by panic when she realizes that an innocent mistake has led the festival committee to believe that she is a personal friend of the reclusive writer Dermot Flynn. Even though Laura has been infatuated with Dermot since her college days, traveling to Ireland to persuade him to come out of hiding is not what she had in mind. Nevertheless, she sets off to charm her literary hero into headlining the festival. Unfortunately, Dermot is maddening, temperamental, and up to his ears in a nasty case of writer's block. But he's also infuriatingly attractive.... With all the warmth and wit that have made Katie Fforde's novels huge bestsellers in the U.K., Love Letters is an irresistible tale of love and literature and the quest for a happy ending.

Lonely Laura puts her fears aside to set up a literary festival in Ireland, where she observes charming locals, admires the views and meets a mysterious—and handsome—author. I loved the characters and location. Delightful story with only a hint of sex.

Likeable characters, passion, and everything you ever wanted to know about literary festivals and careers in writing. Well, that seems to be the emphasis! Our protagonist Laura gains confidence as she moves from job loss to finding her own space. She has the wrong idea about what she means to the attractive Irish writer, the man of her dreams, her blind spot continuing a little long, and in the journey we take a side tour to a hilariously dysfunctional book club. One thing that left me wondering for the length of the novel was the title. At the end, I was still mystified.

Maybe it was just me, but this wasn't her best effort. Same story just tweak the details of all her books.

Charming, as always. Katie Fforde has created another entirely likeable heroine with Laura, an avid reader and longtime bookshop clerk, who is asked to organize a small literary festival at a stately country house.

Forced out of her shell, she is sent to Ireland to do whatever it takes to sign up reclusive author Dermot for the festival. After a couple of whiskeys and a passionate snog, he agrees and the two are on board for a writerly, passionate will they, won't they story. You'll love it!
