This book is so good. It's the very first Sarah Dessen novel iv'e read and it made me go and pick up 4 more of her books, I just can't get enough. This is a beautiful story about family and friendship and I loved it so much, one of the best books iv'e read all summer. It takes place in a small little beach side town and it really made me want to be able to live there and experience the small town lifestyle along with them. You really feel the characters emotions and it's all in all an amazing book!

Auden has just finished her senior year and looks forward to spending the summer like she usually does: staying home and studying, while occasionally attending the parties hosted by her mom for her grad students. However, instead of following routine like she usually does, Auden decides to spend the summer at the attractive beach town where her dad and his new family reside. I really love Sarah Dessen's writing. Previously stated by my plethora of similes in the first paragraph, it's just a comfort to be able to read her work. The book really brings up Auden's perspective, which I loved. Rating: 4/5

I, at first, didn't really get the reference to "What Happened to Goodbye". Or I think that's what it said in this book. But I guess the location must be connected somehow. Once again, this amazing author has spun together a real relationship, in the form of a young adult story. The characters contrast against each other and fit in all the right places to let the story flow, in the best way it can. I really don't know why a bunch of people just assume all of Sarah's books are "those books all about girls, relationships, and guys." Truthfully, they are all unique in the ideas, and the creativity really does flow nicely when you look for it. 5/5 Stars

I didn't hate it but I didn't love it. I was somewhat cliche and predictable, a lot like her other novel This Lullaby. I enjoyed it in the end.

I was a fan of Sara dessens books when I was in high school and I found im still a fan as an adult. I loved Eli's character as well as Audens. Their character development was well done and kept me wanting to know more about them. Lovely book.

I love Sarah Dessen's books because they're romance books but they have this deepness to them that I sometimes can't find in teen love stories. This particular book is one of my favourites by her and one that I keep thinking about years after I read it.

The narrator seemed authentic; however, I'm personally not a huge YA reader and I preferred Keeping the Moon over this particular book.

"It all counts and the bottom line is, what defines you isn't how many times you crash, but the number of times you get back on the bike. As long as it's one more, you're all good."

I sat down on my bed, looking out at the beach below. There were a lot of things about being here that I did not understand. And I was okay with that. But the wave machine? It drove me nuts.

Now she's spending the summer before college in the tiny beach town of Colby with her father and his new wife and baby. A job in a trendy boutique introduces her to the world of girls, their friendships, conversations, romances. And then there's Eli, an intriguing loner. A former star on the bike circuit and a fellow insomniac, Eli introduces Auden to the nocturnal world of Colby. Together they embark on a quest: for Auden, to experience the carefree teenage life she's been denied; for Eli, to put a tragic episode behind him. Combine two lonely people with a charming beach town and endless supply of long sumer nights, and just about anything can happen.
